City Appoints Watson New City Manager

Buford M. Watson Jr. named Lawrence's fourth city manager after a nationwide search. He will earn 22 000 dollars annually and take office January 26. Watson has been Sioux City manager since 1967 and previously led Muskogee Oklahoma.

Watson Prefers University Town for Lawrence Post

Buford M. Watson Jr., current Sioux City city manager, named fourth Lawrence city manager. Born in Columbia Missouri, he grew up in a university town and cites federal program experience, finance, and public relations as key strengths. He plans to visit Lawrence around January 13 for city commission and Kansas University meetings and seek housing. he is married with four sons and active in Rotary.
