Ike's Words Hint At U N War Move In Korea
Eisenhower’s assertion that Communists must be impressed by deeds prompted Allied sources in Tokyo and Korea to forecast a U N offensive in Korea. Military leaders planned to urge him to order a decisive military push, noting 700,000 Communist soldiers and allied forces, including 20 American divisions, two in Japan, and additions from Britain, Korea, and other nations, with possible Nationalist China support. The Inchon landing showcased American strength, and observers suggest the Reds are now vulnerable to coordinated amphibious action along either coast.
