Carl Neil released from parole and sentence. Chester Garrison convicted of assault. Bernard Flood convicted of forgery in the fourth degree.
Associate Justice Pitney of the supreme court sent his resignation to President Harding today. It will take effect January 1.
Governor Henry J. Allen declares Kansas will not use force to remove the Ku Klux Klan but will deny it the right to operate within state borders. He notes a Kansas supreme court writ seeks to block Klan business and to erase intimidation across communities.

The Lawrence fire department battled three fires by 2 o clock with total damage estimated at $5. At 9 10 this morning a chimney fire on Mississippi street caused no damage. Five minutes later another fire on Louisiana street damaged the woodshed and home, with damage still estimated at $5.
New faces join the courthouse staff as county officers elected this fall assume duties January 8. Art Huddleston remains treasurer elect and will take office the second Tuesday in October. Bussity succeeds George Brune as county clerk, Mrs. L. L. Mass leaves district court clerk, D. F. Smith steps in, Mrs. Isa Wellman replaces Mrs. Lloyd Duffee as registrar of deeds. Treasurers’ office delayed to settle tax matters.
Representative Keller of Minnesota again refused to appear before the House Judiciary Committee to testify under oath about information behind impeachment charges against Attorney General Daugherty. Chairman Volstead said the subpoena was signed by the speaker and the committee acted for the House, with the panel delaying action until Monday.

Forty three defendants including prominent New York care and Omaha businessmen and twenty six Nebraska bankers were indicted by a federal grand jury under U S Woodrough for alleged mail misuse in a case tied to the wreck of the Ten Bonding and Surety company. Edwin H Gurney of Fremont Nebraska former president of the defunct firm, William O Van Wick of Oklahoma City and Frank J Hannigan of Hutchinson Kansas are named among the defendants.
The fiftieth annual meeting of the Academy of Science will assemble in the chemistry building at the University on February 16 and 17. A program of lectures and papers on new science centers the two day sessions. The Academy is a state organization with about 250 members some of whom belong to the American Association.
The Los Angeles Times reports film star Wallace Reid is fighting for life in a Hollywood sanitarium. Quoted by his wife Dorothy Davenport and mother in law Mrs. Alice Davenport, he has been ill for three years and under care of two physicians and two male nurses. They expect a slow recovery and plan to nurse him back to health and his place in the motion picture world.
The board of county commissioners will divide benefit districts along the fort to fort highway into tax zones soon after the new year. At the first meeting a tentative zoning plan will be drafted, followed by a second public meeting for suggestions and complaints before final adjustments.
The body of Ralph C. Davis, 34, was found on the Santa Fe right of way near the county farm. He died from a self-inflicted pistol shot, the weapon a .45 Colt. Davis had recent illness and despondency linked to wartime service. He left home at 10 am and was found about 3:20 pm. He served in the 34th Infantry and 139th Infantry. burial in Oak Hill Cemetery follows a private service at 11 am Monday at 1032 Connecticut Street.
