Early yesterday a gasoline stove accident at Eighth and Chestnut streets caused severe burns to Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Myers as they tried to move the small stove. The blaze spread, burning Mrs Myers on her head face and neck and Mr Myers on his hands and right side. Firefighters extinguished the flames but doctors warn the burns may require long healing with possible arm amputation.
In Mayea Mississippi, Nangum, a New Orleans teacher, was shot and killed by high school principal Professor J E Woodward after Nangum remonstrated over Woodward whipping Nangum's son. Nangum wounded Woodward in the wrist before being shot in the head. Woodward guarded at his home.
