Wichita bomb plot suspect goes to court
A man arrested for plotting to detonate a car bomb at Wichita Mid-Continent Regional Airport remains jailed for at least another week as federal prosecutors prepare their case. Terry Loewen appeared before Magistrate Judge Karen Humphreys answering questions solidly. He is described as a flight risk and danger to the community. Loewen, suspended from Hawker Beechcraft where he worked as an avionics technician, had in online chats discussed violent jihad against the United States. Authorities say the vehicle carried inert explosives. no danger to the public. Governor Brownback and GOP leaders praised law enforcement cooperation in thwarting the plot.
