State residents can vote for favorite license plate designs at the official site before 5 p.m. Friday. The winning design will be announced December 18, with printing continuing on the current design until the new plate is selected. Lawrence officials approved utility rate increases to fund stormwater and solid waste projects in 2024. The plan includes Maple Lane reconstruction and Sixth Street stormwater work, plus fleet replacement and a new solid waste facility on the field operations campus. The suit cites health violations, city reluctance to clear camps, shelter bed debates, and a Boise ruling influence on city policy amid plans for a Pallet village and new shelter sites.
