Fire damages home and blocks Kasold Drive in Lawrence
A structure fire at 3404 Oxford Court caused heavy damage and closed Kasold Drive in both directions Monday evening. No injuries were reported. Fire crews arrived about 6 p.m. two residents were home but escaped outside before their return. Red Cross aided displaced residents and investigators remained at the scene as of 9 p.m.

Douglas County Man Gets Probation After Car Assault In Divorce Case
A Douglas County judge gave 35-year-old Michael C. Pringle two years probation after a jury found him guilty of intentional aggravated battery for striking his estranged wife Melissa Pringle with a car in Holcom Park July 11 following an argument at their son’s T ball game. The couple are divorcing. prosecutors noted two witnesses who testified they saw him drive toward the woman.

County to discuss redistricting and heritage grants processes
Douglas County commissioners meet Wednesday to amend the annual budget discuss redrawing district boundaries and review the natural and cultural heritage grants program. The 4 pm session at the Douglas County Courthouse will include budget transfers for ambulances and roads and bridges a Berry Plastics project federal grant use and potential revenue from alcohol tax.
