Newsmen urge court approval of joint newspaper plants
In a brief filed in Washington publishers from 16 cities urge Supreme Court acceptance of joint operating plants to preserve editorial competition. They argue antitrust laws would create monopolies and that joint operations keep weaker papers alive in cities with two editors. The Arizona Star and Tucson Daily Citizen appeal a federal ruling on their joint plant. New York University fencers have won 16 NCAA individual titles since 1947, Columbia has 11.
