Stolen Coin Machines Found on County Road
Stolen coin operated machines taken Saturday night from Chief Lunch at 2246 Barker Ave were found five miles west of Lawrence. Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said the machines including four music box extensions and two chewing gum dispensers were broken open for the money inside. Two beverage mixers and ten pounds of hamburger also reported stolen. Loss estimated at $250 or more. Break in by window entrance noted. Recent spate of break ins on Twenty Third Street area. A dozen tires stolen the night before from Farmers Co op Association Store at 23rd and Haskell Sts.

Three Hurt As Car Overturns On Township Road
Ronald Lee Abbott Jr of Route 4 drove a car that went out of control and overturned on a township road 243 miles northwest of Lawrence injuring three people. Helen Hoffman 14 of 1600 W 4th St suffered a back injury and was in fair condition at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Irene Hoffman 12 and Abbott were treated for cuts and bruises and released. The car was a total loss. The crash occurred about 12:30 p.m.

Lawrence Boy Held In Stolen Car Action
A TS-year-old Lawrence boy was arrested by police Saturday for interstate transportation of a stolen vehicle at the request of the FBI. He was carrying a .38 revolver and is also wanted in Illinois on an armed robbery warrant. Police say he and an 11-year-old from Waukegan, Illinois stole a car and money at gunpoint from a Waukegan woman last week, then drove it to Columbia, Missouri, where it was abandoned.

Two Persons Injured In Accident On Weekend
Two persons received minor injuries in a four car collision Saturday evening at 19th and Mass Streets. Dean Glasco, 21, Mass Street, treated at Watkins Memorial Hospital for a cut forehead. Mrs. Ra Smith, 55, Horton, had a minor neck injury not requiring hospitalization. Glasco was a passenger in a car driven by Richard Effin, 22, Mass Street, and Mrs. Smith was with Burleigh Cook, 22, Third Street. An unidentified car ahead of Cook stopped for a dog, Cook stopped, and Effin could not stop. Damages: 325 to Effin's car and 125 to Cook's. Another collision Sunday at 13th and Pa Streets involved Leonard Medina, 25, Ottawa, and Leroy Hartung, 18, Junction City. damage minor. Seven other minor accidents were investigated Saturday noon through this morning.
