Life of banker Bob Georgeson and community leader
Bob K Georgeson born October 11 1930 Lenora Kansas son of Carl and Etta Georgeson. He graduated Lenora Rural High School 1948 attended Grinnell College then Washburn University for business. Drafted 1951 to Korea as private rose to Sergeant First Class. Returned 1953 enrolled Washburn 1954 BA in business. Worked at Merchants National Bank then attained Wisconsin Graduate School of Banking 1968. Joined Commerce Acceptance Company, moved to Lawrence 1954 with Greta. Career spanned five decades in banking including First National Bank later Mercantile Bank now U S Bank in Lawrence where he became EVP and COO before 1993. Became president CEO of Douglas County Bank Lawrence, retired 2001. Active in Kansas banking associations, testified before Senate, authored articles, lectured widely. Led community service on DCCCA Lawrence Schools Foundation Douglas County Community Foundation O Connell Youth Ranch KANU Lawrence Memorial Hospital and more. Received Baker University Outstanding Leadership in Business Award Cottonwood Lifetime Achievement Award Rotary Paul Harris Fellow Lawrence Chamber Citizen of the Year and Sertoma honors.
