Chicago December 12 Twenty individuals eighteen corporations and two trade associations were summoned to federal court to answer a conspiracy to restrain trade in the ice cream industry. The indictment accuses manufacturers of pressuring states to pass counter freezer restricting legislation and of boycotting competitors and users of freezers. Gardner keeps the office open through noon to assist late callers. Supreme Court Rules Gaines Admitted to Missouri Law School
The court ruled Missouri must admit Lloyd L. Gaines, a St Louis Negro, to its law school under equal education rights. Chief Justice Hughes said Missouri violated the equal rights provision by forcing Negroes to study outside the state. It also left in effect a labor board setback over 145 sailors. The court postponed ruling on child labor amendment ratification and denied habeas corpus for Thomas Mooney.
