Federal budget deficit hits record November high
The Treasury reported a November deficit of 164.4 billion dollars the largest for the month and pushing the two month total to 401.6 billion. A full year deficit could reach 1 trillion, or more, driven by the 700 billion rescue and a slow economy with analysts predicting possible higher totals. If the year hits 1.5 trillion economists warn stimulus plans could alter the outlook. The report notes the deficit would be the largest as a share of GDP since World War II, potentially surpassing 6.7 percent of GDP.
