He noted ZIP codes speed parcel post, cut handling, and reduce damage with direct routing though public use remains essential. Customers should add five digit codes to return addresses for future use.
Baby Amy Ward aged 25 days is declared a ward of the State Department of Social Welfare at a special hearing in Judge Rankin's office. She was found at 6 am November 17 in a Grover Bungalo Launderette rest room and weighed 6 pounds 9 ounces at birth. The infant, now in a foster home, has no identified parents and will not stay in this county.
Sheriff Vanderslice reports seven businesses and a post office in Overbrook were robbed early Thursday with narcotics stolen from Topping Drug Store. Only 27.70 in change was taken from the sites. FBI to assist due to federal post office break-in.

Dr. Nels M. Strandford will become professor and chairman of radiology at Kansas University Medical Center effective July 1 1965. He replaces Dr. Galen M. Tice who will retire from administrative duties but remain on the faculty. Strandford age 44 is a North Dakota native who trained at Luther College and Chicago University.
Dr. C Arden Miller, dean of the Medical Center, attended as KU seeks 38 002 900 including the Kansas City center. State universities request 23 388 284 for KU and K State, with agriculture stations included. Budget director Bibb eliminated KU faculty salary increases but those may be restored by Gov. Avery or the Legislature. Next steps: governor’s budget recommendations to the legislature, followed by appropriations action. Board and presidents urge a 52 8 million budget for fiscal 1966.
Morgan cites a 20 percent request share in general revenue for higher education.
