Walter Clair Woodcock an 11 year old high school student injured in a crash at Fifteenth and New Hampshire streets was moved to his home at 2118 Barker Avenue from Memorial hospital this morning. Attendants say he is not in a serious condition and had been unconscious until early today. The crash also killed Ernest King 19 of 908 East Fifteenth Street who rode a motorcycle that collided with a Ford roadster driven by Victor Scott 19 of Haskell. A gas office ad offers a free turkey with a $50 merchandise purchase.
The Doll Room from Santa's workshop plans a 6 15 broadcast over WREN if reception from SCNP is possible. Santa promised his young listeners last Friday he would reveal details about new dolls and maybe announce a Lawrence visit before Christmas.
Guy Chamberlain, former Nebraska football star and all American end and halfback under Jumbo Stiehm, says he is willing to coach the Nebraska team next year to succeed Ernest Bear, who resigned. He sent a telegram to the World-Herald stating he has stayed out this fall to receive reinstatement and plans to coach at a college next year, with his heart at Nebraska.
Lawrence police report the capture of Kenneth Higgins and Robert Brooks near Cawker City as they planned a holdup in a stolen Chevrolet. The pair admitted stealing about 7.50 in cash, rings, a child’s bank, and trifles from the Getty home. Higgins pleaded guilty to auto theft and was sent to the reformatory. Brooks to be returned from the industrial school. Chief Will Johns said Getty will receive the .45 and .38 pistols, while the youths claimed other valuables were discarded.
Dallas police captured two men linked to a weekend of offenses totaling at least four holdups three assaults three farm robberies and a post office robbery. Lee Roy Merriman and Henry Aldredge face charges after a chase and gunfight. evidence included guns, stamps and personal items from victims.
