Armed guards from Algeria patrolled Tunis as Italians French and Arabs protested Italian demands for Tunisian control. One gravely wounded, ten Italians arrested for seditious cries, while French authorities reinforced with 100 mobile guards. Diplomats warned the crisis could widen with Italy seeking concessions in French Tunisia.
Mexico discloses plans to sell about 17 million dollars of oil through W R Davis in 1939. Deal would trade oil for German machinery and office equipment with cash for 40 percent and credit for the rest. Davis to market in several European countries.
