Downtown Grocer Proposal Sparks Parking Debate in Lawrence
An 20,000 square foot grocery store is planned for downtown Lawrence at 11th and Massachusetts Street as part of a seven story mixed use development. Parking is a key issue with proposed 18 angled spaces on Massachusetts Street and 16 on 11th Street plus a four story garage. City Commission will discuss the parking plan and study its impact on nearby historic buildings including the Douglas County Courthouse Watkins Museum and English Lutheran Church. The project faces reviews and resident input before any decision.
