City commissioners will consider approving the zoning for a new Kansas University sports park near the northeast corner of Sixth Street and the South Lawrence Trafficway.
The plan seeks to rezone 90 acres from agricultural to general public and institutional uses to allow KU to build a track and field stadium soccer field and softball stadium and other features. A $25 million recreation center is not on the Tuesday agenda as staff negotiate land agreements with Kansas University Endowment.

Burton K. Tribble, 66, pleaded guilty in Jefferson County District Court to possession of child pornography as part of a plea deal. A second charge was dropped. Sentencing is set for Jan. 24.
An Animal Planet Finding Bigfoot crew will visit Kansas in late January to film scenes near Wichita as part of a statewide search for evidence. Producer Sean Mantooth notes details are undisclosed to deter hoaxes while a town hall in the Wichita area is reportedly set for January 26.
