Straw Votes on State Issues at Lawrence Breakfast
At a Lawrence Chamber of Commerce breakfast 112 attendees voted on Kansas state issues. Key results favored a Department of Transportation with a Secretary over the Highway Commission, and private motor vehicle inspections, plus strong backing for a Uniform Consumer Credit Code and a Kansas Consumer Protection Act. There was mixed opinion on tax funding methods and state revenue use, with local officials pressing for continued sales tax revenue and redistribution guidance.
