Lenexa Man Sentenced After Judge Rejects Plea Deal
Jose Garcia Melgarejo, 41, was sentenced to 32 months in prison for aggravated sexual battery after the judge declined to accept a plea agreement that would have allowed probation. The incident occurred Oct 7, 2021, at Prairie Park Nature Center, where the victim was touched without consent while fear prevailed. The charge was amended from aggravated criminal sodomy, lowering the minimum sentence from over 12 years to under three.
