County secures 180000 tires buried on Eudora farm

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment added 18000 to a 32000 grant to bury over 180000 discarded tires on Daniel Sturm’s farm nine miles south of Eudora. N R Hamm Cos, Perry, won the $50000 bid to place tires under 4 to 5 feet of dirt in a ravine. The site, a Captain's Creek tributary, was deemed a fire and mosquito hazard.
