Thompson Convicted in Killing of Wife
T Eugene Thompson, 36, convicted of arranging the brutal murder of his wife Carol, 34, in St Paul. He received a life sentence after a six-man six-woman jury took seven ballots to reach a guilty verdict. Thompson, a St Paul attorney and father of four, was accused of orchestrating the slaying for more than 1 million in insurance and for another woman. He remains jailed awaiting transfer to Stillwater State Prison with potential parole eligibility after 17 1/2 years if behavior permits.
