Widow seeks lighter sentence for aiding fugitive husband
The widow of a former New Jersey prosecutor who fled and killed himself to avoid prison for fraud may gain a lighter sentence. Barbara Bissell, 43, helped her husband skim about $146,000 from a gas station business from 1991 to 1994. If the judge accepts the recommendation, she could receive about 1 1/2 to 2 years. Her lawyer seeks probation and community service.
