Lawrence area braces over detention center budget
Architects told the Douglas County Commission the Northeast Kansas Regional Juvenile Detention Center would stay near the 1.5 million dollar budget with 90 percent state funding but contingency costs and possible overruns raise questions. The center aims to serve juveniles locally, opening in late 1993 near North Lawrence.
