Seminarians Move Into Low-Income City Area
Four teenaged seminarians and Father Patrick J. Berkery establish a Contemporary Mission in St. Louis north of downtown to reach inner city youth through music and writing. They live with poor white and rising Black residents, study at local divinity school by day, work with neighborhood kids by night, and seek church recognition as a new religious institute. Their income comes from books and records, including prior albums by The Montfort Singers.
