Bad Check Prevention Grows in Douglas County
Since April 1 the Douglas County sheriff s office has processed over 900 bad checks totaling 13 827 45 with recoveries amounting to 3 708 02 plus about 2 000 recovered through court payments. About 200 arrest warrants have been sworn for check writers as the new department gains experience. Local merchants and law enforcement held a meeting to combat the problem and officials urge prosecution to deter future fraud.
