Roy Terrill Pleads Guilty in Tax Case
Roy C. Terrill, a 65 year old Lawrence businessman, pleaded guilty to evading federal income taxes just before trial. He admitted underpay ing $3,849.76 for 1948 when he should have paid $8,252.44. Across the region a national road safety drive had little effect on weekend driving. One injury crash occurred when Ford G. Laux, 64, of Evansville Indiana, rolled his car on U S 50 at Ninth Street Baldwin he was admitted to Lawrence Memorial Hospital with shock and later expected to be discharged. Weigel 23 of Monument escaped injury when his car overturned on U S 40 five miles west of Lawrence while attempting to avoid a left turning vehicle. Lawrence saw 11 accidents Saturday noon to Sunday noon, described as bizarre rather than severe with minor damage in other collisions.
