Allied headquarters report tank led German infantry unable to crack the Allied ring around Bizerte in a third push from Tebourba to Mateur. They claim to still hold vital roads while denying Teboura recapture, with Tebourba and Djedeida changing hands amid heavy tank battles.
Dallas, Dec 5. OPA administrator McCullough signed an order increasing wholesale and retail ceiling prices for sweet milk in Winfield and Wellington, Kansas after a three week study. In Winfield ishers: wholesale quarts March high price plus 2 cents. retail quarts plus 2 cents. pints and half pints unchanged. In Wellington: price plus 1 cent for quarts. pints and half pints unchanged. No sales beyond one mile outside city limits.
Allied air power halted sea reinforcements as Japan parachuted more than 100 bundles of food and ammunition to beleaguered troops in the Buna Gona area. American and Australian forces seized two Japanese positions near Gona and bombed enemy ships and barges while Guadalcanal awaited a renewed landing attempt. General Knox said 51 Japanese ships were sunk and 80 damaged, and Brig Gen Bissell reported 21 heavy raids totaling 150 tons of bombs in Burma and Thailand in November.
Senate debate over a Mexican claims settlement bill was stalled by Senator Clark who threatened a filibuster to demand reopening of certain cases. The measure would create a commission to distribute 40 million dollars to claimants per a convention with Mexico. Final gasoline coupon distribution for trucks is set for Monday at the Community building with possible additional sessions.

Topeka Dec 5 Thousands of occupational questionnaires have been mailed to Kansas selective service registrants the remaining 18 and 19 year olds. Ed Franzke state director of the U S employment service says workers will aid in classifying job information and that registrants will be added to the active occupational file to fill vacancies in critical war industries.
Kansas City December 5 Big Six coaches recommended that freshmen be made eligible to play on varsity basketball teams. The move aims to provide more players as college careers are shortened by war while not altering the conference schedule. Officials to replace departing referees were also approved as all six schools Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas State, Oklahoma and Iowa State were represented.
Moving week at the naval training school of the University of Kansas saw remodeling and relocation of most offices on the main deck in Frank Strong hall. The officer of the day and the hospital ward were prioritized, with the sick bay moved to a central east room to improve medical care and isolation. New venetian blinds adorn offices and quarters, with plans for refurbishing the reception room for trainees and visitors.

Ottawa Kansas December 5 1930 Harry Barker age 60 a section employee at Le loup was fatally struck by a westbound Santa Fe train moments after starting work to shovel snow from the tracks Barker stepped onto the rail path in front of the moving locomotive and apparently did not hear the approaching train.

Leslie Demeritt his son and daughter returned from a Clinton 4 H club meeting when a coyote darted into the road. The coyote was struck by the bumper and after briefly escaping into brush, the senior Demeritt dispatched it when it reappeared in the road under car lights. Coyotes are a growing problem for local poultry flocks.
Kansas governor elect Andrew F. Schoeppel notes hundreds of letters from constituents offer encouragement and faith in sound policies. He plans to answer as many as possible before his January 11 inauguration, saying he has little personal time left.
