Washington reports describe President Roosevelt's message read in both houses with attention. A joint commission notified him Congress was in session ready for his delivery. Other items include Republican Senate caucus plans, nominations to the Senate, Kansas delegation backing Vernon for treasury register, Hepburn seeking quick action on the Panama canal bill, and exclusion talks on Japanese and Koreans.
Governor La Follette appeared before Wisconsin's extraordinary session and read his message. He urged railroad law revisions, a uniform railroad accounting system, expanded power for rate investigations, and prompt railroad tax payments. He also proposed a powerful investigations committee to report by November 1, 1908.
Mrs Irene Berry of Girard Kansas remains in undisputed possession of a railroad coach after four days without food. She spoke to a police officer guarding the car saying she would kill her enemies then clarified she did not intend to kill everyone. Efforts to capture or remove her are being prepared but not yet carried out.
A missile shattered a window on the president's train near North Philadelphia last Saturday. Frank L. Shepard of the Pennsylvania Railroad says a boy threw stones from a fridge area, noting it unlikely the vandal targeted a specific car or the president himself.
Warsaw dispatch reports the executive committee of the railroad employes union telegrammed all rail stations in Russia urging a midnight strike unless death sentences by a Samara court martial on Sokolists and other leaders are reversed.
New York December 1899 report shows George D Eldridge vice president of Mutual Reserve Life Insurance testifying before the Insur ance Investigating commission. He said the Mutual Reserve paid 15000 to a Mr McDonald of Philadelphia in 1899 to avoid a suit by policy holders to oust Frederick A Burnham from the presidency.
Woodbury Kane a prominent figure in New York social yacht and club circles died suddenly today. He was the son of the late Delaney Kane and connected to many of New York's renowned Tamiles.
The Pacific liner from Manchuria arrived in San Francisco with United States Minister Lloyd C. Griseam and Luke Wright, governor general of the Philippines, among the passengers. In London a major roof collapse at the Charley Cresza main line station and nearby Avenue theatre injured none aboard trains, but thirty men have been rescued from the wreck.
Wilie Lawrence, a leading figure in Pillsburg Kansas, was fatally shot today by his stepson John Graham who was handling a target rifle. The bullet entered the temple and Lawrence died shortly after the incident.
Jefferson City reports Superintendent Vandiver will spend next week in New York examining the Mutual Life Insurance and Mutual Reserve Life companies. Halifax dispatch notes a steamer wreck off Amherst Magnesium Island claiming thirteen lives including Leslie a Canadian parliament member.
Warsaw reports the abolition of a minor martial law state, announcing Poland is now completely freed from military rule. London notes Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman has agreed to form a new cabinet after meeting the king. Constantinople reports ministers will yield to powers in principle, but the sultan has not yet approved.
Kansas City visitors include Mr. Charles Terry and Mr. Henry Collins with others from Clinton Lecompton and Vieland. Residents shift homes and join local events while Phi Gamma Nu hosts a pig dinner and university party plans unfold in Topeka.
City council adjourned after a long session approving the Lawrence Electric Light contract for street lighting and distributing power citywide. Other actions include sewer work bid awards, sidewalk and street paving orders, tax and franchise items, and routine city business with mayor presiding.

Topeka December 5 By agreement of the attorneys the quo warranto suit brought by Attorney General Coleman to oust the Stindad Ott company from doing business in Kansas was continued until March in the Supreme Court.
Ed Tom Linson a distiller at Keokuk Falls was shot and killed today by F M Grandy in a northeast Oklahoma wall town. Tragedy follows a long standing read. Chocolate dipped dates 20 cents a pound stuffed dates 20 cents a pound chocolate dipped caramels 29 cents a pound dipped peanut candy 20 cents a pound.
