Fire at Lawrence detailing shop blamed on faulty duct
A Monday night blaze at Richard's Detailing and Mobile in east Lawrence caused about 8000 in damage. Fire officials say an improperly installed flue duct for a heated power washer sparked the fire, damaging the east wall and smoke affecting two cars.

Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department received 500 doses of seasonal influenza vaccine for walk in immunizations at the Community Health Facility first floor 200 Maine. Clinic hours 6 30 am to 9 30 am and 1 pm to 4 30 pm weekdays except 9 30 am Tuesday open until 8 pm Monday. Vaccination costs 22 for children 6 months to 35 months and 26 for 3 years and older. Medicare Part B Medicaid HealthWare and Blue Cross Blue Shield billed. CDC recommends vaccination to reduce flu risk and suggests getting both seasonal and H1N1 vaccines. In a separate case, Travis Sharon 22 pleaded no contest to aggravated battery and intimidation for a home invasion on West 23rd Street August 25. He faces sentencing January 22.

She married Jewell H. Lawrence and they shared 53 years of marriage. She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. Survivors include three children three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Friends may call Monday evening at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel.
