Local fuel use drops in Lawrence amid warm November
Lawrence saw a fall in electricity consumption in November with officials unsure if the drop stems from unusually mild weather or energy conservation. Average temperatures were higher than both 1972 and the 30 year November average, while officials from Kansas Power and Light and Kansas Public Service Gas cite milder than usual conditions and ongoing conservation efforts as possible causes. Nationwide, utilities report declines linked to customer action and weather, though analysts caution it is too early to confirm a trend.
