Macao Faces Serious Crisis as Reds Riots Erupt
Several thousand pro-Communist Chinese rioters sacked Macao City Hall and clashed with police in the colony’s worst crisis since 1952. Demonstrators tore portraits, tossed books, overturned police cars and beat officials. Police used tear gas, amid injuries to officers and protesters. The protest followed a Peking accusation of racist atrocities and a plan to build a school.
