Winter Concert at KU Highlights Versatile Soloist

The Kansas University Fine Arts School presents the University Symphony Orchestra at 3 30 p m Sunday in Murphy Hall University Theatre. Conductor Robert Baustian in fifth year leads Mozart Symphony No 39 Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No 2 and Rimsky Korsakov Le Coq d Or with Fred Wiemer as soloist. Wiemer is an honors student with multiple scholarships and prior piano and French horn work. The program is free to the public.

Agnes Murray 72 of 504 La. Street was listed resting comfortably at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a Friday stroke. The widow of J W Murray long time Journal World managing editor collapsed while raking leaves around 1 30 p m and was found by neighbor Mrs Fritz Heider then rushed to hospital.

Udall Dinner Bridging Local Democratic Ties

Frank McDonald, longtime Douglas County Democratic leader and former Haskell athletic director, will preside at a Lawrence dinner where Udall is to be introduced by Theis. McDonald helped secure Udall's visit and led the push for Haskell Stadium's construction as a World War I memorial. He remains active in Indian affairs after retiring from Haskell decades ago.

Jane Sutton returns Friday from the National 4-H Congress in Chicago and will speak at the annual 4-H Club and vacation agriculture achievement banquet at 6 30 tonight in the Kansas Union ballroom. The Douglas County Bankers association sponsors the event. Awards will honor outstanding 4-H members for individual projects and activity, 4-H club activity, seal, key, family, and American Legion achievement trophies for the top girl and boy in 4-H work.

KU Fans Bid for Bluebonnet Bowl Seats in Houston

Tickets to the Kansas University football team in the Bluebonnet Bowl at Rice Stadium December 16 are selling fast at the KU Athletic Office. Tickets cost 5.50, seating from the 20 to 50 yard lines in the lower deck. KU faces Rice after Rice beat Baylor in a Southwest Conference game today. Military land disposal proposed by Army Engineers would affect 326 acres at Sunflower Ordnance Works near Lawrence. decision awaits January committee action. Injured man hit by bus in downtown incident

Arthur Peck 73 of 512 Tenn. St. was struck by a bus at 9th and Mass Streets Friday afternoon. He suffered a badly mangled right ankle and foot and is listed in good condition today at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

A 19 year old Lawrence man Frank Edward Britton suffered a broken nose in a one car accident about 5 30 this morning a mile south of Lawrence on the Louisiana Street road. He was reported in good condition at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
