The Douglas County communications center shares heating with a 10,000 square foot adjacent space that will relocate to a new jail in Lawrence. Heat from 15 computers and 17-inch monitors on the Judicial & Law Enforcement Center top floor worsens as more equipment arrives next year. Officials say relocation or expansion into the space is possible and stress and lower efficiency follow high heat.
