Western Maryland edged George 13 to 8 while Army trailed Holy Cross 0 to 7. Boston College led Georgia Tech 22 to 0, Florida and Stetson low scoring with uneven results.
Leeds, England. A 63-year-old mother, Mrs May Bronhill of Pannal, was sentenced to death for murdering her son Denis to end his suffering. The jury found mercy warranted after she gave him sedative pills and he died quietly rather than endure a risky operation.
Three mourners attended the ten minute funeral of Lester M. Gillis known as Baby Face Nelson after federal agents killed him. His mother sobbed as others viewed the body and reporters followed the funeral procession to St. Joseph's Cemetery. An undertaker read the rites as six huskies bore the casket to the hearse.

Topeka December 1 AP Chief Justice William A Johnston marked 50 years of continuous service on the Kansas supreme court and began his second half century of interpreting state law Tonight he will attend a golden jubilee dinner hosted by the Kansas Bar Association with greetings from federal and state officials The 86 year old jurist known as the grand old man of Kansas has written about 8000 opinions and faced few health setbacks in a career spanning politics and law including earlier service as state attorney general and in the U.S. district and state legislatures
A two-car crash on Highway 40 near White Church injured four people, including Alma Kolb and her two children from Storm Lake. Louis Kolb drove the car with three Fort Riley soldiers aboard. Reed suffered a broken collarbone and Yeo-Riley and Roti returned to Fort Riley. The injured were taken to Providence Hospital for treatment. A TB clinic at Lawrence Memorial Hospital Monday will be held with patients asked to use Missouri street entrance, funded by Christmas Seal sales.
The New York school moves Monday from the old to the new structure with inspection at 2 PM and dedication Friday at 8 PM. City officials and patrons plan to attend. the board of education will review bids for the old New York building and the Quincy school property. Members, teachers, and pupils express pride and invite the public to visit during tours and the dedication program.
Columbia May Dec AP reports University of Missouri athletic officials will not appoint a new Tiger football coach until Frank Carideo's resignation is acted upon by the board of curators. The curators plan to meet by month’s end as speculation centers on former Notre Dame star and Missouri alum Pon Faurot, whose Kirksville Bulldogs have a string of twenty six straight victories and who has alumni backing.
Clarence Edmund Rarick, acting president since Dr. W. A. Lewis died October 10, 1928, was named president by the state board of regents at Topeka. Rarick joined Fort Hays State in 1919 as rural education professor and had earlier been superintendent of Osborne schools. He earned a 1904 AB from Kansas Wesleyan and a 1928 EdD from Wesleyan, noted for consolidating schools and serving on the state school code commission.
Santa Claus led a Massachusetts Street parade in Lawrence joined by Mother Goose and a host of fairy tale characters. Goldilocks, the Three Bears, the Big Bad Wolf and others delighted thousands of children and adults who followed the procession through the business district. The high school band opened the parade and later Santa visited local stores. Christmas lights along Massachusetts Street will be lit tonight, with decorations at 1000 to 1100 blocks and a large Merry Christmas sign at Seventh and Massachusetts.
Topeka Kansas Dec 1 AP An extra 100000 for a new building at Kansas State College Manhattan to replace Denison Hall burned last July was added to the 1935 36 state schools budget by the board of regents yesterday The move aims for a low presentation to the legislature meeting in January Charles M Harger chairman called the change the only major addition Other recommendations included 100000 for a fir proof ward for Negroes at the University of Kansas Medical School Kansas City Kan and 46000 to finish the Dyche museum at the University of Kansas Lawrence
Public invited to the annual Elks memorial service to honor eight members who died in the past year. The event will be held tomorrow after noon at the Inde rooms, 725 Vermont Street. Rev Joseph F King of Plymouth Congregational Church will deliver the memorial address with eulogies. Judge Big Means will give brothers’ remarks. Exalted Ruler Henry Asher and other officers will lead the opening and closing exercises.
Charles Vermillion pleaded guilty to first degree murder in the slaying of six year old Nadine Vogel Love in Vermillion Kansas City Kan. He appeared for arraignment with preliminary hearing set for December 14. Vermillion allegedly confessed to the Michigan killing to escape punishment in that state.
A 23 ton steel tug Lakeside III sank early today three miles northeast of the Detroit river mouth in Lake Erie during a gale. Four crewmen clung to wreckage and were washed ashore south of Amherstburg Ontario at 4 30 am after a large wave capsized the vessel en route from Middle Bass Island to Detroit with 2000 gallons of rape juice aboard. Capt Jack Metza and three deckhands survived.
