Father’s troubled past and child tragedy linked to Boothe
Missouri authorities say Raymond Boothe had a history of substance abuse and mental illness. He allegedly stabbed Levi with needle-nose pliers and left the body on the Kansas Turnpike, then tried to kill himself and the other children in Lawrence. Police connected a series of fires and care concerns at the Cameron home to the turmoil surrounding the family, with neighbors recalling odd hours and unresolved tensions. Medical and social services officials weighed bipolar and addiction challenges amid family strain and absence of Boothe’s wife.
