Lawrence plans extensive road work across multiple routes this fall. Projects include Route 1061 resurfacing from the Franklin County line to North 1200 Road with one lane, Kentucky Ninth Eighteenth and 13th Streets water main rehab with parking and lane closures, Sixth Street phase two widening and center turn lanes, Kasold Drive lane shifts and center turns, the Kansas River levee detour for Bowersock plant construction, Sixth Street final overlay phases, Delaware and East 22nd Terrace patching, several speed humps on Carmel and Wimbledon drives, Douglas County River Bridge resurfacing on US 40 59, North 1000 Road reconstruction near US 59, sanitary sewer work near the airport, US 56 resurfacing with up to 15 minute delays, US 59 northbound Wakarusa River bridge work, North 200 Road frontage road closure, I 470 to I 70 westbound bridge maintenance with a detour, three miles east of Lawrence reconstruction with one lane each way, 142nd Street bridge replacement in Leavenworth and Wyandotte counties, Interstate 435 pavement repairs, and Johnson County Holiday Drive interchange work with late October completion.
