C C Seewir 90 longtime Lawrence resident died after a two day illness at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. A survivor of Quantrill raid he served at Haskell Institute, was Lawrence postmaster 1915 to 1920, ran a printing shop, and collected Indian relics. Services Friday at Trinity Episcopal Church with burial in Oak Hill.

C E Smith 56 a former Lawrence resident was killed when a .410 shotgun discharged accidentally as he crossed a fence while hunting on his Chanute area farm. He had moved to Chanute two years earlier after founding Smith Motor Company and had worked at Hunsinger Motor, William Roberts, and Sunflower Ordnance Works. He was brother in law of the late W E Kennard.
