John T. McCuish announced a total state property tax levy of 1.76 mills for 1940, down from 1.80 mills in 1939, with a 0.27 mill reduction in the property tax and a 71 mill soldiers bonus levy. The Lawrence city levy will be 37.9952 mills, up 0.5369 mill, while Douglas County and School District 60 show increases.
