Lawrence man gets life for child pornography counts
A 46 year old Lawrence man, Michael J Limburg, was sentenced to life in prison without parole for at least 25 years after being convicted in Douglas County of 10 counts of promoting sexual performances and four counts of possessing child pornography. An investigation traced his IP address to Limburg via online file sharing, leading to seizure of his computer and disks containing child porn images.

Links at Lawrence golf course surprise city officials

Fire at Horizon Systems paints booth ignites briefly
A paint booth inside Horizon Systems at 1101 Horizon Drive ignited briefly on Tuesday. Fire crews controlled the flames in about 20 minutes with up to 50 employees evacuated and no injuries reported. Three engines responded and traffic near Haskell Avenue and Horizon Drive was briefly stopped.

Suspect charged in KSU student death
An Olathe man Gregory Haug Jr. was charged with involuntary manslaughter in the 2013 death of Kansas State University freshman Jordan Forbit. Forbit, 18, of Elkhart, was found Nov. 20 in a vehicle in a campus lot near the Derby complex in Manhattan. Details of the arrest were not released. Farmers prepare for fall wheat seeding in Kansas report
Kansas farmers have been busy preparing wheat fields for fall seeding as the National Agricultural Statistics Service notes rain favored northern counties while the southern half remains uneven and dry. Warmer temperatures stress pastures and crops, with 13 percent of corn matured and corn, sorghum, and soybeans showing mixed conditions from poor to excellent. Pastures and ranges also show 25 percent in poor to very poor condition.
