Topeka teen gets 1 to 5 years for Perry crash fatalities
An 18-year-old Topeka man, Larry Haggerman, was sentenced to one to five years after pleading no contest to involuntary manslaughter in the May 12 crash west of Perry that killed five people. He faces civil suits seeking damages over $50,000.

Fort Riley residents may stop boiling water after tests show no choliform bacteria in the base supply. Maj. Gen. Edward Partain said the water is cleared for drinking following a routine Aug 6 contamination from cracks in a storage tank. Woman sentenced in Valley Falls murder case
A 34 year old former state hospital patient was sentenced to 10 years to life in prison for the strangulation death of her roommate at Valley View Nursing Home in Valley Falls. Dorothy Allen, formerly of Junction City, was convicted of second degree murder for the January slaying of 58 year old Maxine Sites.
