McLouth Student Falls at KU Window Washing Incident
McLouth junior John Weeks, a KU Buildings and Grounds window washer, fell from Fraser Hall's second floor around 4 30 p m Friday afternoon. He was hospitalized at Lawrence Memorial in fair condition with injuries not yet known. Weeks had previously worked without safety devices and spoke of close calls while on the job.

Eighteen Indicted by Jackson County Grand Jury
In Kansas City Missouri AP: Eighteen persons named in 93 indictments by the Jackson County grand jury. Thirty two indictments charge six men with failing to file state income tax returns and pay taxes. Six named defendants released on bond after arraignment before Circuit Judge John H. Lucas. The charges are misdemeanors with up to one year in jail or $1000 fines. The jury had previously returned 47 indictments this session, a county record. The jury began in May.

Getto Hutson Hotel Founder Remembered in Lawrence Obituary
M J Gettoly Hutson founder of the Hotel Eldridge in Lawrence died recently with his son W G Hutson Jr also having died earlier. A noted hotel man and former KU football coach and civic leader, Getto played for the Dodgers in 1940 41 and coached at KU under several staff changes while directing hotel work. He was a Lawrence Chamber of Commerce and Kansas Hotel Association president and later earned the American Football Hall of Fame induction. He remained active in community life despite ill health and was known for his cheerful greeting.

Kansas City AP report: Larry Buford Hubbard, 61, a truck driver, was arrested on a complaint that he severely beat two of his five children with a metal clothes hanger. Lloyd Anthony Hubbard, 4, suffered over 50 cuts and puncture wounds and a deep cut above the left ear. Edward Eugene Hubbard, 9, had a three inch facial wound and a cut near the ear. The five children were found huddled on a street corner by two policemen after the beating allegedly followed Lloyd taking change from their father’s trousers.

St Johns Catholic School Sets Opening for Wednesday
St John’s Catholic School begins classes at 8 30 a m Wednesday with enrollment on Friday totaling 274. Of the final count 214 are in grades one through six and 60 in junior high grades seven and eight. Opening day will be a half day.

Local man exhibits two rattlesnake skins from area ranches
Bob Cole of 645 North Third shows two large rattlesnake skins he is tanning for display. The longer skin measures 61 inches by 8 inches with 13 rattles and came from Curtis Stewart ranch about eight miles north of Midland. The shorter skin is 57 inches by 7 inches with 14 rattles from the C M Stewart ranch nearby.
