Heck Home Burns Near Midland in Jefferson County
The seven room two story frame house of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Heck and daughter Helen burned late Saturday night west of Midland on Highway 24. Lawrence youths reported the blaze, firefighters saved nearby buildings, and only clothing was left on the Heck family as they regroup with Howard Heck’s family. The cause remains unknown though an electric light was left burning.

Firefighters answered 8:30 AM alarm for a blaze in wooden blocks at the loading dock south of the Lawrence Paper mill. The only damage was a charred entrance door.
