County may improve access road to landfill
Douglas and Jefferson counties may cooperate to improve the Hamm Landfill access road off Kansas Highway 24 north of Lawrence. Construction could begin in 2016, funded by the Landfill Road Maintenance Fund, with plans by an engineer after bidding. County commissioners meet at 4 p.m. weekly to discuss the project and other items including sewer easement extensions and appointments to boards.

Students build Hobbit house playhouse for CASA fundraiser
