NextEra Eyes Large Frontier Solar Farm Across Douglas Johnson
NextEra Energy plans a four mile wide solar project straddling Douglas and Johnson counties from North 700 Road to North 300 Road. The West Gardner Solar Project would cover about 2000 acres, produce around 320 megawatts, and aim to power about 40,000 homes, with regulation debates centered on a 1000 acre cap and zoning rules. Public hearings and detailed staff reports are scheduled as Douglas and Johnson counties shape the project rules before NextEra files formal plans.
