Brownback plan to fund Kansas Capitol center with bonds

Gov. Sam Brownback's administration proposes using 5.4 million in state bonds and 7 million from the Department of Transportation plus 5 million savings to finance a new visitor center at the Statehouse and improve its grounds. Budget Director Steve Anderson outlined the plan in a memo to the governor and legislative leaders. The AP obtained a copy from a legislative source. The move diverges from expectations of private funding for the final interior work. The renovation total has already reached a substantial amount.
