Kansas State Championship Contests in Lawrence 1995
The 1995 Kansas State Championship Contests in Lawrence occupy South Park and nearby venues on August 27. Events include banjo, fiddle, guitar, mandolin, mountain dulcimer and instrumental contests with cash prizes, youth judging, and multiple stage performances by The Alferd Packer Memorial Stringband Billy Hunsinger and the Lonesome Hobos Wheatland Pastense and more with registration open until 20 minutes before each contest. Free children’s activities run all day in the park at the South Park Recreation Center with an air conditioned venue on the west side of Mass Street. Street Music provides sound.

The Kansas Traditional Music Society hosts the 1995 Kansas State Fiddling and Picking Championships with workshops, contests, and concerts. Single workshop admission is 4.00 dollars, all three 10.00 dollars, barn dance 5.00, contestant registration 4.00, and many events are free or space limited. Sponsors include Ramada Inn Lawrence, Community Mercantile, Sno-Shack, Amigo’s Mexican Restaurant, Cross Currents Culture Unlimited, and the Lawrence Arts Commission.
