Parsons Kansas police report Elmer Washington a 36 year old negro who escaped from the Kansas penitentiary at Lansing by hiding in a brick load was captured in Muskogee Oklahoma last night while intoxicated. Washington had been in a Lawrence manhunt after riding in the brick car. He was sentenced in district court to ten years for burglary and larceny.

Auto crash near Perry claims life of Arthur Cavanaugh
Arthur Cavanaugh twenty two of Perry died Sunday afternoon when his car overturned after a sharp corner on the road between Perry and Leampton. A companion was not seriously injured.
