A 64 year old Lawrence woman, May Conrad of 644 Kg St, was struck by a pickup at 11 a.m. while crossing 8th Street at Vermont. She suffered a broken right shoulder and skull fracture and was in serious but not critical condition at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. The driver, Richard D. Kramer, 28, from Forbes Air Base at Topeka, said he was turning left onto Eighth Street and did not see her until just before impact. She was crossing northbound on Eighth Street.
