Two Fire Calls Reported by City Fire Department

Firefighters answered two alarms early yesterday evening. At 7 o clock smoke filled the basement of 1400 Tennessee street due to trash burning in the furnace, causing no damage. At 8 o clock they responded to 1709 Mississippi street where rags and paint in a new home under construction for Mrs Maud Stanard KC Mo ignited, scorching walls and damaging baseboard and linoleum.

Prisoner Dolezar Dies by Own Action in Cleveland Jail

Chief Jailer Kilbane reported Frank Dolezar, accused in Cleveland torso murders, hanged in his county jail cell. Dolezar faced charges in the slaying of Florence Polillo, corpse later linked to the case with bloodstains found at his apartment. Lone Star CCC Camp Ordered to Move to Effingham

The Lone Star CCC camp, active since 1934 on the Lone Star lake project, will relocate on or about October 1 to Effingham for soil erosion work under the Soil Conservation Service. About 200 youths are at Lone Star, with 38 men sent to Effingham to build housing.

Daladier to Broadcast to French Nation Tomorrow Night

Paris April 24 Premier Edouard Daladier announced he would make a radio broadcast to the nation tomorrow night. The National Railway company said it has taken all necessary dispositions for civilian travel.
