Hamm gold in gymnastics fault sparks panel review
International Gymnastics Federation suspended three judges after Yang Tae young was docked a tenth of a point in the all around final, costing him the gold. Hamm moved from 12th to first to win by 0.012, while Yang would have led with a correct value. Korea plans to seek arbitration to review the start value, arguing a basic injustice in judging.

How Gymnastics Scoring Works in Competitions
Gymnastics uses the Code of Points to assign a start value for each routine. An eight judge panel includes a two judge A Panel setting the max score while six B Panel judges deduct points for faults. The highest and lowest B scores are discarded and the rest averaged into the final score.
